Mpumalanga - Six people were killed in an accident near Waverly in Mpumalanga on Thursday morning, the provincial department of community safety said.

“The confirmed number of people that died is six. We received a report of seven but it could not be confirmed,” said department spokesman Joseph Mabuza.

The accident happened at a T-junction around 6.30am on a road between Waverly and the Oshoek border post into Swaziland.

“A truck was using the road and a bakkie failed to stop at the stop sign at the T-junction and collided with the truck,” he said.

All six deceased were from the bakkie, including the driver.

The truck was hit on the side and the driver was not injured, he said.
