A gunman shot three men dead and injured a fourth after an alleged feud at a night club in the Hillfox shopping centre on the West Rand, early on Sunday morning, police reported.

Inspector Herman Esterhuizen said police were investigating the possibility of the 1.30am shooting being gang-related.

Desmond Bethane, 30, Gerhard Jacobs, Malgas Family and Sean Deduad, all aged 28, confronted a man when he allegedly hit a woman in the face with a glass.

Esterhuizen said a scuffle then ensued between the men.

Club bouncers escorted the man, who had apparently hit the woman, out the club.

However, he returned a few minutes later and fired several shots at the four men.

Bethane, Jacobs and Family died in the club, Esterhuizen said. Deduad was hit in the leg and taken to hospital. His condition was described as stable.

Esterhuizen said the alleged killer was expected to be arrested soon.

He was thought to be the leader of a gang Esterhuizen declined to name.

Deduad, Bethane and Jacobs were apparently members of the FBI Fast Guns gang, police said. - Sapa
