Klerksdorp - An 18-month-old baby girl drowned in a water basin in Huhudi near Vryburg, North West police said on Saturday.
“It is alleged that the grandmother of an 18-month-old baby was doing washing at her house in Huhudi using two washing basins on Friday, at around [11am],” said Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko.
“According to the information, it appears that the baby was playing around the yard with other children not far from where the [grand]mother was doing laundry. Without anybody noticing, the baby fell into one of the water basins and drowned.
“Her grandmother saw her a few minutes later, lying dead in the basin. Investigation into the matter continues and no foul play is suspected.”
