Rustenburg – Former chief operation officer of the national department of co-operative governance and traditional affairs, Dr Lydia Keneilwe Sebego has been appointed as the Director General for the North West, the provincial government said on Friday.

Her appointment was with effect from July 1.

Announcing the appointment at a meeting of heads of department and chief directors, Finance MEC Wendy Nelson, said Sebego brought with her a wealth of experience within the public service that was vitally needed to fast rack service delivery in the province. She had previously served as head of department at the departments of public works and health in North West.

Former acting director general Professor Job Mokgoro was entrusted with the responsibility to establish a North West School of Government.

“This is crucial to complement academic knowledge which employees obtained at institutions of higher learning.” Nelson said.
