A North West mother who had triplets for a second time feels blessed, but wonders if she will cope, the Sowetan newspaper reported on Monday.
“There is no rest. There is no mama. I am feeling sick this time. It's all about the babies,” said Rebecca Phejane.
She thought she was expecting one child with her second pregnancy, but to her surprise her gynaecologist told her she was carrying another set of triplets.
“I did not know how to react. I knew I was struggling to support my first ones and I did not want to go through the pain and suffering again.”
Her doctor Mahommad Saeed Mather said Phejane's case was one in a million.
“Naturally conceived triplets are rare, but having a second set is extremely rare.”
Had it not been for Phejane's early visit to him, there could have been complications.
Phejane is looking for any help with the babies, not just financially.
“I need physical help and if someone has disposable nappies or infant formula or clothes to donate I would appreciate it,” she said.
Presently unemployed, she and her now four-year-old first triplets, the babies, and herself will live with her unemployed mother in Setlopo village, Mahikeng, North West.
They will rely on a state child grant and the father, a contract worker at Impala Platinum Mine, for support. - Sapa
