Rustenburg - Six people were killed and 10 injured in a head-on collision between a bakkie and taxi on the N14 near Carletonville on Monday, paramedics said.

“The bakkie appeared to be ripped in half from the collision,” ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.

“On assessment, paramedics discovered the bodies of six people, including a young child, lying around the scene.”

Three of the injured were critical and airlifted to Tshepong Hospital. The cause of the accident was not known.
