Johannesburg - An arson case has been opened by Morokweng police after two kids, aged 6 and 4, died in a shack fire, in the North West.

Police spokesperson Captain Paul Ramaloko said the incident occurred on Tuesday at 10pm at Tseng Village in Morokweng.

The young boy and girl were apparently sleeping when the fire broke out.

“Neighbours tried to extinguish it but with no success,” Ramaloko said.

The whereabouts of the parents of the children, as well as the cause of the fire are still unknown, said Ramaloko.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
