Western Cape matriculants jumped, screamed, cried and fell on the floor after learning their results in the 2014 national senior certificate exams. The province is the only one in the country with all its education districts achieving a pass rate of above 80 percent this year.

Nicole Jacka has passed matric with 10 distinctions and a aggregate of 93%. She was a student at Springfield Convent Senior School in Wynberg Cape Town. She has been a student of this school since grade 3. She was only a little girl when she said that her dream is to become a doctor oneday. She has worked extremely hard towards that dream and today UCT has offered her a scholarship to study medicine at the university.
