Cape Town - Frank Elshof, the man who is in Cape Town on a desperate search for his missing partner Frank Kater, says people have claimed to have seen Kater around the city, while others say he is at a homeless shelter.

Elshof told the Cape Argus on Sunday it was impossible that Kater had vanished. “It’s not possible that no one knows where he is. Someone has to know whether he is hiding or he is homeless somewhere.”

Kater, 42, a telecoms worker, was being treated for addiction at the Stepping Stones Rehab Centre in Kommetjie. He was allowed to leave the clinic on Saturday, October 11. He never returned.

Kater was last active on WhatsApp the next morning, and a Facebook commenter said he had been seen being dropped off in Green Point’s Main Road that evening. There has been no activity from his phone, social media or bank account.

Kater was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt, red trousers and slip-slops. His clothes, passport, bank cards and identification are still at Stepping Stones. All he had with him were his cellphone, sunglasses, and R600 in cash..

Anyone with info about Kater’s whereabouts is asked to e-mail [email protected], or call Ocean View police station’s Warrant Officer Greeff on 021 783 8313.
