Jessica Leandra, the FHM model who found herself at the centre of a Twitter storm because of a racist tweet, says she is sorry.

The blonde model posted the following explanation on her personal site: “I tweeted rather irresponsibly about an incident, using a harsh and unkind word about the gentleman who had confronted me with sexual remarks and sounds.”

According to reports by News24, Jessica believes that people who had witnessed the incident would not have been so quick to judge her.

“It is no surprise that my comment has offended many people and for this, I am apologetic.”

When confronted with angry tweets from followers she tweeted: “Would u all stop! These are the kinds of people that land up raping young girls of our country! I wasn't going to let him get away with it.”

This is reportedly not the only racist tweet from the model. She has also removed another tweet: “Highlight of my weekend? Almost punching an #Engen petrol assistant. No tolerance for rude African monkeys whatsoever!”

While Jessica refers to herself as projecting a kind nature,” the public seems to disagree.

A campaign on Twitter is calling for FHM magazine to strip the beauty of her Models 2011 title.

FHM wasted no time in tweeting a response.

“We're horrified that any1 would say such things! Those attitudes have no place in society or FHM! [sic]”

According to Eyewitness News the editor of FHM, Brendan Cooper, was quick to distance the men’s magazine from the model.

“We are appalled by Jessica's moronic, racist tweets. She in no way represents our brand.” - IOL
