Cape Town - The City of Cape Town has advised road users to be aware of revised road closures for the Cape Town Cycle Tour on Sunday.

In a statement, mayoral committee member for Transport, Councillor Brett Herron, said: “The City would like to remind residents that the advertised road closures and MyCiTi bus service deviations for the Cape Town Cycle Tour have been significantly amended due to the change in route.”

A revised road closure schedule can be viewed at http://www.capetown.gov.za/en/MediaReleases/Documents/Road%20_Closures_Table2015_%203%20March.pdf while MyCiTi route deviations are to be found at http://www.capetown.gov.za/en/MediaReleases/Documents/ServiceAlert_Route_Deviations2.pdf

Parts of Riebeek Street, Lower Long and Cullinan Street in the Cape Town CBD are due to be converted into temporary MyCiTi stops and no parking will be allowed on those sections of roads until after 2pm on Sunday.

“The Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust, organisers of the cycle tour, have appealed to all residents in Green Point not to park along the Main Road,” Herron said. “They should use alternative side roads or designated parking areas. The City regrets any inconvenience, and would like to urge residents to plan around these closures as far as possible. Please be assured that all possible measures are being implemented to minimise the impact on those not participating.”

Herron advised anyone seeking additional information to contact the City’s Transport Information Centre on 0800 65 64 63.
