Cape Town - President Jacob Zuma wished Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who is back in hospital, a speedy recovery on Wednesday.

Zuma sent good wishes to Tutu upon receiving news that he was re-admitted to hospital on Tuesday night for observation after experiencing discomfort.

“We once again wish a speedy recovery to the Archbishop and urge the nation to keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers,” said Zuma.

The 83-year-old Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, fondly referred to as “The Arch” is back in hospital a week after being hospitalised earlier this month for treatment of a persistent infection.

According to the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, his daughter, Reverend Mpho Tutu said her father’s recent hospitalisation was not related to his cancer treatment, and he had been prescribed bed rest by his medical team.

Tutu would remain in hospital until the weekend.
