Expelled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema was refused entry to the Great Place of abaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo in Bumbane in the Eastern Cape, The Times reported on Friday.

Malema was scheduled to visit the king on Thursday, but was turned away by guards from Calculama Security Services, owned by former Umkhonto we Sizwe operative Ronnie Matshaya.

The king's spokesman Phumla Matshaya told the newspaper the king would not receive Malema because “Bumbane is not a battlefield to fight cheap politics.

“The king has his own battles to fight. He will always refuse to be used as a launching pad for others to fight their wars. We cannot allow Malema a visit while the political climate is not conducive to do so.”

Matshaya said the decision to revoke Malema's permission to visit had been taken by the King and Umkhonto we Sizwe. – Sapa
