Johannesburg - A tweet about Julius Malema’s designer belt led to the Sport Minister Fikile Mbalula trading insults with EFF members and supporters.

Mbalula ended up telling one EFF member, identified as Sentletse on Twitter, that his party did not get him a seat in Parliament and instead deployed him “on Twitter to obsess about the ANC”. He also called Malema “Karate Kid”.

Eyewitness News tweeted “Julius Malema’s Louis Vuitton belt”, alongside a picture of Malema – who appeared in court on Tuesday on corruption charges. Nzinga Qunta replied to the tweet, asking: “What is the point of this tweet?”

Many people responded to Qunta’s tweet, including Mbalula, who accused the EFF of hypocrisy. “They were the first in Parliament buffet (sic)”, he tweeted.

Sentletse, a vocal EFF member, joined in the frenzy and the two traded insults.

“Don’t you have something better to do, like polishing Malema’s shoes or sometime get ikama (get a comb) for your cadre too @MbuyiseniNdlozi,” he tweeted in reference to Sentletse.

Sentletse hit back at the minister. “We don’t fight over seats like you’re busy jostling for a place up the Nkandla crook’s rectum… you can’t come here and be self-righteous when you sleep with young girls and call them ‘extortionist’.”

Sentletse was referring to an incident a few years ago when a woman, Joyce Molamu, alleged that she had a steamy encounter with the married Mbalula who impregnated her.

Later, Mbalula focused on Malema.

“He was in court today for Limpopo corruption, has he asked himself to PAY BACK THE LIMPOPO money or he displayed hypocrisy?”

That prompted EFF spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi to tweet: “When did u learn about hypocrisy: after or before infidelity?”

Responding to Mbalula, Malema himself tweeted: “@MbalulaFikile if we were to tell a story of where you get some of your money people will be shocked”.

He then asked Mbalula to “please share” how he awarded sport tenders and who paid for his 40th birthday. At the end of their fight, Malema tweeted: “@MbalulaFikile bye Mr Minister Miyagi”.
