Johannesburg - Former president Nelson Mandela was consistent with what he fought for throughout his life, former environment minister Valli Moosa said on Friday.

Moosa, who was also minister for provincial and constitutional affairs, served in Mandela's cabinet after South Africa's first democratic election.

“One memory I would never forget about him was the day he sat and wrote his first speech after his release from prison,” Moosa said outside Mandela's house in Houghton, Johannesburg.

“He said to me he doesn't want to deviate from what he said the day he got arrested. Madiba remained consistent with what he fought for all these years.”
