Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma will visit former president Nelson Mandela's widow Graca Machel and other members of his family in Houghton on Friday afternoon, the ANC said.

“The president of the African National Congress, Comrade Jacob Zuma, will lead a delegation of the national executive committee of the ANC to the home of Tata Nelson Mandela this afternoon,” spokesman Jackson Mthembu said in a statement.

The ANC said Zuma and the rest would arrive at 1pm to pay their respects to the Mandela family. After the visit, Zuma would address the media.

Just before midnight on Thursday, Zuma announced that Mandela, 95, had died at his Houghton residence.

ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe would brief the media at M1 Studios in Auckland Park, Johannesburg after Zuma had spoken in Houghton.
