Pretoria - Paralympian Oscar Pistorius's murder case has been transferred to the High Court in Pretoria to start on March 3, 2014.

This was announced by Magistrate Desmond Nair during Pistorius's brief appearance in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Pistorius is charged with the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp who was shot dead in his Pretoria home on February 14.

Nair said: “...The matter that is before me today is merely for the postponement to the high court. It is merely a short appearance.”

Prosecutor Gerrie Nel handed a charge sheet to the court.

“We will serve the indictment on the accused... We have arranged a date for the trial. And that would be from 3 March to 20 March.”

Nair then served the papers on Pistorius.

“I'm enjoined by legislation to serve them on you and I am now doing that,” said Nair.

“Have you had sight of this indictment?” Nair asked Pistorius.

Pistorius replied: “No sir.”

The matter was then transferred to the high court to start on March 3. - Sapa
