Rustenburg - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) would contest all wards countrywide during next year municipal elections, party leader Julius Malema said on Saturday.

“We are going to have candidates in all municipalities with the aim of winning all the municipalities,” he said at the party’s second anniversary rally in Rustemburg.

“North West belongs to the EFF. We obtained more than 20 percent in the national election without a serious campaign. We are going to take the Rustenburg municipality and all municipalities in Bojanala.”

Bojanala Platinum District Municipality is made up of five local municipalities, namely Kgetlengrivier, Rustenburg, Moses Kotane, Madibeng and Moretele.

Malema promised to deploy the best councillors who would serve the voters and not to steal from them.

“EFF councillors will not demand bribes or sex to render service to the community. Anyone found guilty of corruption will be expelled from the EFF.”

He said for party members to be eligible to be councillors they had to be hard workers, community activists as well as credible leaders.

The DA in North West, meanwhile, was positioning itself to take over the Tlokwe municipality.
