London -

Police say that investigators hunting for a missing British schoolgirl have found a body at her grandmother's house in London.

Twelve-year-old Tia Sharp went missing a week ago after visiting the house near the south London area of Croydon.

Her disappearance had drawn an increasing amount of media attention in Britain. Earlier this week The Sun newspaper offered a 25 000 pound (nearly $40 000) reward for her safe return.

Scotland Yard has not said whether the body belongs to Tia and that it was still confirming the corpse's identity.

In a statement Friday, it said it was seeking Stuart Hazel, the partner of Tia's grandmother Christine Sharp, for questioning in connection with the case. - Sapa-AP
