Paris -

French President Francois Hollande has awarded a special presidential photography prize to Michel Euler of The Associated Press - for a spur-of-the-moment shot that makes the president look like he's dressed as one of his gold-helmeted guards.

Euler received the Prix Elysee de la Photographie 2013 at the Elysee Palace on Wednesday, saying he was accepting it on behalf of all photographers who cover the French leader.

Euler joined The AP in 1985 in Geneva and has covered events in several countries across continents.

Hollande thanked Euler for his original photo, and went on to thank all the photographers who suffer bad weather alongside Hollande, who has repeatedly been caught in rainstorms at iconic moments of his presidency. - Sapa-AP
