Sydney - An Australian wrenched a metal stake from his leg and clambered back up a cliff after falling from a ledge and impaling himself on the fence post, news reports said on Tuesday.
“He's certainly shown some Bear Grylls characteristics in removing himself from a very difficult situation,” paramedic Louise Wylie said in reference to the British star of the Man Vs Wild television series.
The 45-year-old fell at twilight on Monday at a scenic lookout near Melbourne, national news agency AAP reported.
He used his belt as a tourniquet before pulling the stake from his leg.
His mobile phone was in his car and it took him 90 minutes to drag himself there and call for help. - Sapa-dpa
