Gaza/ Ramallah - Islamic Hamas movement on Wednesday accused the Israeli police of executing a Palestinian car driver from east Jerusalem who drove over two Israelis and wounded them.

Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, said in a statement that Hamas accuses the Israeli occupation for executing the young man Omran Abu Idheim in the city of Jerusalem.

“What happened was example to the field execution the Israeli occupation practices against our people,” he said, adding that “therefore, we call on the world’s institutions to bear its responsibility towards the Israeli crimes.”

Earlier on Wednesday, an Israeli police spokeswoman said in a press statement that the Israeli police killed a Palestinian man who drive over by his car two Israelis in east Jerusalem and wounded them.

“The driving over attack occurred at a crossroad in al-Tur neighbourhood in east Jerusalem and lightly wounded two policemen,” said the spokeswoman’s statement.

She said that after the young man drove over the two policemen, another Israeli police force opened fire at the driver and critically wounded him, adding that the driver died later of his sustained wounds.
