Paris - In a city which is reeling from the shock and grief of fatal terror attacks claimed by Islamic State, one man has risen above the fear and prejudice to try and re-establish people’s trust in their fellow man.

An unidentified Muslim man, wearing a scarf as a blindfold, ventured into the crowded Republic Square in Paris, offering hugs to mourners of last week’s horror attacks.

A rough translation of the placard at the man’s feet reads: “I trust you, do you trust me? If so, hug me!”

People gathered around him, taking pictures and video footage of the amazing exercise in trust.

Scores of Parisians, many openly crying, went to hug the man.
