San Juan, Puerto Rico - Authorities in Puerto Rico say they have seized nearly 135 kilograms of cocaine aboard a ferry that was traveling toward the island.

Police said in a statement Friday that five people were arrested and three cars were seized. The ferry was traveling from the nearby sister island of Culebra.

The US Drug Enforcement Administration has taken over the case.

The amount of cocaine seized in Puerto Rico and elsewhere in the Caribbean has increased in recent years.
