Germany - Thieves across Germany either had no Christmas spirit at all – or were trying extra to hard to get some – as people on Monday reported a series of thefts of Christmas paraphernalia, including trees and geese.

In one case, police were investigating the weekend theft of 60 Christmas trees with a total value of 1 500 euros from a shopping centre parking lot in the north-western town of Delmenhorst. Police said the thieves cut cables holding the trees in place before making off.

Meanwhile, authorities in the nearby city of Bremerhaven were investigating the thefts of multiple Christmas decorations, including illuminated stars along with their cables and timers.

And, not far away in Beverstedt, authorities were looking into the theft of a dozen geese from a local farm.
