Johannesburg - The historically disadvantaged community of the Kouga municipality in the Eastern Cape will own 40 percent of the Gibson Bay wind farm community trust, Red Cap Investments said on Wednesday.

The company won a R2.25-billion bid for the farm from the energy department.

It said construction was underway on the 32-turbine wind farm, which was expected to start exporting power to the Eskom grid during the last quarter of 2014.

Red Cap describes itself as a 100 percent South African-owned and managed renewable energy developer. - Sapa
