London - If you didn’t get the exam grades you were expecting, blame your parents.

Scientists at King’s College London, after studying more than 6 500 pairs of twins, have concluded that differences in GCSE scores are largely down to DNA.

About 62 percent was down to genetics. The other 38 percent is due to “environmental” factors such as health and diet.

But it is not all about intelligence. Many factors, including personality and behaviour, are also influenced by genes and affect exam scores, the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences reports. - Daily Mail
