London - It has just taken the technology world by storm with the launch of its latest smartphone and the much-anticipated smart watch.

And now Apple has revealed it hopes to tackle new frontiers – by revolutionising our television sets too.

The firm already offers a box to attach to a TV, which accesses films, music and photos. But Apple could soon develop its first “smart’”TV.

Chief executive Tim Cook said: “TV is one [area] that we continue to have great interest in – I choose my words carefully there – TV is one of those things that, if we’re really honest, it’s stuck back in the seventies.”

Speaking on US television, he added: “Think about all the things around you that have changed. And yet TV ... almost feels like you’re rewinding the clock and you’ve entered a time capsule and you’re going backwards.

“The interface is terrible. I mean, it’s awful!” - Daily Mail
