London – Amazon has begun delivering packages on the New York subway as part of a drive to get parcels to customers in less than an hour. If successful, the same practice may be introduced on the London Underground.
The online retailer has introduced the one-hour delivery guarantee in an attempt to offer the benefits of instant purchasing – or ‘buying something from a shop’, as it used to be called.
It said its workers were using a variety of transport methods to make sure that packages were making it on time, including the New York subway network, adding: ‘Our folks bike, walk or use public transportation.
‘They only drive if the item is large like a flat screen TV.’
In London, Amazon is already looking at buying space at Underground stations to create pick-up points from which customers can collect their items while out and about. – Daily Mail
