Six new Johannesburg suburbs are set to get fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) internet connections as fibre connectivity provider Vumatel rapidly expands its network.

The resident associations of Hurlingham, Glenadrienne, Hyde Park, Northcliff, Sharonlea and Olivedale in Johannesburg are the latest to join the list of residents that have signed up for high-speed fibre connections.

Vumatel expects to have more than 30000 homes connected by February next year.

Giorgio Iovino, sales director at Vumatel, says the company is currently installing fibre connections in Saxonwold, Parkwood, Riviera and Killarney.. Other areas, including Victory Park, Linden, Bryanston South and Blairgowrie, are scheduled to begin in October.

“The support from communities has been fantastic,“ says Niel Schoeman, CEO of Vumatel. “We are currently making our infrastructure available to approximately 2000 additional homes a month. He says that based on current interest the company is confident of connection upwards of 100,000 homes next year.
