London - The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and its subsidiaries NatWest and Ulster Bank were on Wednesday night hit by a glitch that prevented customers using their cards, drawing cash or using online services.

Frustrated customers reported on social media that they were unable to pay bills or draw cash. RBS said: “We are aware of the problems our customers are having - we apologise and we'll provide more information as soon as we have it.”

The failure comes less than a year after millions of customers were affected by a software failure which prevented payments from being processed. - The Independent
