The biggest tour of the summer is upon us and KFC is proud to announce Nomandi Junior Secondary School from Mthatha took on the Proteas to kick off an action packed 2015/16 KFC Mini-Cricket Kids vs. Proteas Tour.

Nomandi ended up defeating their Proteas heroes by 46 runs and setting numerous records in the process.

The kids batted first and immediately showed their intentions. They batted well and scored the highest score ever in the KFC Mini-Cricket Kids vs Proteas tour of 87 mostly helped by Nnyukela Asipheand and Siveku Esethu who both scored 18 runs. The spectators enjoyed watching Wayne Parnel being hit two balls in a row onto the clubhouse roof. Wayne Parnell went for 18 runs in his over and David Wiese went for 28 runs in his two overs.

The Proteas were never in the game and continuously lost wickets. The kids, who pride themselves on their bowling, never gave the Proteas a chance. A Lone effort by David Wiese of 12 runs was all that the Proteas had to show but it was not good enough to beat the KFC Mini-Cricket Kids. The Proteas only managed 41 runs which gave the KFC Mini-Cricket Kids the largest winning margin in the tournament since it started three years ago. Robert Thabiso once again being the pick of the kids by taking 1/1 in his over and was well assisted by Mchiza Luyolo who took 2/5.

The KFC man of the match was Robert Thabiso for his all-round performance.

As associate sponsors in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge, KFC endorses the reason why they are involved in KFC Mini-Cricket and that is to encourage kids to live active lifestyles. The kids are chosen at the 16 KFC Mini-Cricket festivals held around the country. Each child gets the chance to meet a local professional cricketer at the KFC mobile studios where they ask them questions about cricket. Being able to meet and interact with their heroes during a KFC T20 International is a once in a lifetime experience for the kids involved, something that can be clearly seen when they are caught on camera during the matches dancing and interacting with the crowds!

With the cut and thrust nature of the T20 game, the KFC Mini-Cricket kids’ involvement in these thrilling domestic and international matches adds to the live spectacle, and gives the youngsters the belief to aim high as they go from strength to strength within KFC Mini-Cricket.

Three spaces are still up for grabs for your primary school’s or cricket club’s KFC Mini-Cricket team to host and take on the Proteas. Dial *120*7535# or visit www.kfcminicricket.co.za now to enter.
