Johannesburg-

Some brutal, yet calculated, hitting from David Miller consigned the Knights to a third successive defeat as the Dolphins won their Domestic T20 cricket encounter at the Diamond Oval in Kimberly by four wickets on Friday.

The result gave the Dolphins two wins from two starts and put them level at the top of the log with the Warriors, although the latter have a slight edge in net run rate.

Set a target of 177 to win by the Knights, the Dolphins created the platform for the chase through Cameron Delport (36) and Cody Chetty (46), before Miller saw them home in style.

The visitors went into the last two overs needing 19 runs to win, but needed just five further deliveries as Miller hit Ryan McLaren for back-to-back fours and then hit the third ball clean out of the stadium.

That was one of three sixes hit by the Proteas' batsman, who finished unbeaten on 56 from just 31 deliveries.

The defeat left the Knights with much work to do if they are to bounce back and reach the play-off stage of the competition.

Reeza Hendricks (60) and Rilee Rossouw (51) put on 104 in 11.4 overs for the opening stand, while Dean Elgar came in at number three to score 52 not out from 33 balls.

However, a score of 176 for four was not enough, as Johan van der Wath, McLaren and Nicky Boje all went for more than 10 runs per over. - Sapa
