Western Cape Cricket (WCC) on Friday confirmed that Richard Pybus has resigned as coach of the Cape Cobras.

“CEO Andre Odendaal said the board will discuss the matter at its meeting on Monday evening and issue a response following that,” WCC said in a statement.

His resignation follows the team's failure to defend their title in the local T20 Challenge series as they missed their chance of reaching the play-offs.

Pybus, a former Pakistan and Titans coach, took the Cobras to three titles including the 2011 SuperSport Series and T20 titles in his two-year stint with the side. – Sapa
