Port Elizabeth - The Warriors celebrated their second victory of the domestic one day cup campaign with a record-breaking 45-run triumph over the Dolphins at St George's Park on Friday.

After opting to bat, the Warriors registered 322 for six wickets, the highest-ever total scored at St George's Park surpassing the Lions' 294 for seven in the 2009-2010 season.

The Dolphins, despite a bright start, could only manage 277 in reply thanks to a career-best of 74 by Khaya Zondo.

It was an evening for records in Port Elizabeth with Michael Price (95) and Jon-Jon Smuts (88) sharing 178 for the first wicket in 31.4 overs (191 balls). This bettered Smuts' two previous partnerships of 155 with opening partners Arno Jacobs and Wayne Parnell.

Price extended his form from the first-class format and fell to Daryn Smit disappointingly close to his maiden hundred in this format of the game.

Advancing down the track to the legspinner, Price only managed to scoop the ball to long-on where Robbie Frylinck pouched a simple catch. Price struck 10 fours and a six in his 110-ball knock.

Promising teenage seamer Andile Phehlukwayo, who performed quite well on night despite the large total, bowled Colin Ackermann for one and Smuts followed just a short while later pulling a short delivery into the hands of Cody Chetty at mid-wicket off the bowling of Craig Alexander.

The Warriors innings did lose its way in the middle stages and it was left to captain Colin Ingram and Ryan Bailey to reignite the fire in the Warriors' belly.

They posted 73 runs in 53 balls for the fourth wicket with Ingram scoring 40 before becoming Daryn Dupavillon's second victim.

Bailey went on to finish unbeaten on 63 off only 41 balls with six fours and two sixes.

Frylinck landed himself the unwanted record of having conceded the most runs ever by a Dolphins bowler in his effort of none for 83 in nine overs. This was also the worst bowling figures at St George's beating Lundi Mbane's two for 74 in 10.

The Dolphins had to hit the ground running in reply and Morne van Wyk and Cameron Delport obliged with a rapid 69 in 56 balls for the first wicket.

But Delport holed out off the bowling of Lundi Mbane for 38 and then the Warriors seamer struck against a couple of overs later trapping Van Wyk in front for 32. Cody Chetty was run out and big fish Vaughn van Jaarsveld (20) was the victim of a superb catch in the outfield by Bailey off the bowling of Jon-Jon Smuts.

Zondo soldiered on first with Daryn Smit (38) and then with Andile Phehluwayo (34 not out) but in the end the Warriors had made too many runs.

Rusty Theron was the most successful of the Warriors bowlers taking four wickets over 67 runs.
