Bangalore - Batsman Faf du Plessis will have a scan on Tuesday morning to assess the severity of his leg injury, suffered during Monday night's Champions League T20 match between his Chennai Super Kings and the Dolphins in Bangalore.

The in-form South African, who contributed a breezy 30 off 19 balls during the high-scoring affair, limped off while fielding during the Dolphins' unsuccessful pursuit of 243 for victory, and climbed into the Chennai team bus, with his left hip strapped and iced.

The Proteas’ ace, who had a hugely productive ODI series in Zimbabwe recently, is set to leave for New Zealand with the Proteas in October, as they continue their build-up towards next year's ICC World Cup.
