India to bat first at Kingsmead

Durban – India won the toss and decided to bat first in the second Test against South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban on Thursday.

The first Test of the two-match series was drawn.

The Boxing Day Test would be the last for Jacques Kallis who announced his retirement from the longest format of the game on Wednesday.

Kallis will end his career at the ground where he made his debut for South Africa in 1995 against England. It brings to an end a career of 166 matches for the all-rounder where he has averaged over 55 with the bat with 44 centuries and 58 half-centuries.

With the ball, Kallis has taken 292 wickets at an average of 32.5.

India made one change to their lineup with left arm slow bowler Ravindrasinh Jadeja coming in for Ravichandran Ashwin.

South Africa also made one change with Robin Peterson coming in for Imran Tahir. Morne Morkel was included in the Proteas team as he made a miraculous recovery from an ankle injury he sustained in the first Test.
