Johannesburg – South Africa appear to have dropped former captain Graeme Smith for the first ODI against India at the Wanderers.

Smith missed the final ODI against Pakistan after he was given compassionate leave following the death of his grandmother, but he was expected to play in the series against India.

There has been no comment from Cricket South Africa since the teams were announced and no mention of injury to the former ODI captain.

Smith has not been in great form since returning from injury this season, but there was no hint that he would miss the series, or be dropped so soon.

Spinner Imran Tahir has also been dropped, with Wayne Parnell called up to the side.

India have name an unchanged team from their last ODI.
