Sydney - Australia captain Michael Clarke is unsure whether he will be ready to play in his team's opening World Cup match against England on Feb. 14.

Clarke took a major step in his recovery from hamstring surgery when he batted, bowled and fielded for a Cricket Australia XI in a one-day match against Bangladesh on Thursday. His recovery is on track to have him available for the World Cup but Clarke said Friday that the opening match may come too soon.

He said “you should ask that question to the medical staff. I don't know the answer to that question.”

Cricket Australia has given Clarke until Australia's second pool match against Bangladesh on Feb. 21 to prove his fitness.
