London - Two months after pledging his allegiance to England, Jack Grealish is still not eligible to represent the country of his birth, Fifa has confirmed.
The Solihull-born Aston Villa midfielder, 20, has played for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s. He declared in September that he wanted to switch his allegiance after holding talks with the England manager, Roy Hodgson.
The Football Association expected Fifa would take between four to six weeks to process the papers.
But a Fifa spokesperson said yesterday: “The matter is pending and being investigated by our services. We are not in a position to give an estimation as to the relevant time line.”
