Johannesburg – The Ladies European Tour (LET) and Women’s Professional Golf Association of South Africa (WPGA) on Sunday jointly announced their agreement with World Sport Promotions to extend the South African Women’s Open through to 2021.

The success of the tournament over last first three years had created a tremendous boost to women’s professional golf in South Africa and set the foundation for continual growth of the game in the region.

“An extension until 2021 is an expression of our commitment to South Africa and our wish to help grow the game,” LET CEO Ivan Khodabakhsh said in a statement.

“The Ladies European Tour members always enjoy competing in the region and are committed to inspiring more young girls to participate.”

Barbara Pestana, executive director of the WPGA, said: “This extension underlines the significance of this championship and the long-term commitment mirrors our joint goal to provide a sustainable competitive platform to continue shaping the future of our players for years to come.” – Sapa
