I'm louder than the vuvuzelas - Carragher

Jamie Carragher claims to have scarcely noticed the noise generated by the vuvuzelas in the crowd at England's World Cup opener against the United States but it might be a different matter when he gets back home.

"I didn't notice it too much when I came on but I think you notice it more when you are watching it," the Liverpool defender said on Monday.

"I know you hear them on tv because my kids have been on the phone asking for them, so I've got them in my bag already to take home."

The open design of the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg means the horns loved by South African supporters did not seem as loud during England's first match as in other venues, but Carragher is ready for a rise in the decibels.

"Anyone who has been at Anfield watching me knows I am louder than the vuvuzelas," he said. - Sapa-AFP
