Durban – Former Springbok winger Tonderai Chavhanga will make his Super Rugby debut for the Sharks and is among three changes made by director of rugby Jake White for the clash against the Cheetahs in Durban on Saturday.

The 30-year-old, who holds the record of six tries on debut for South Africa against Uruguay way back in 2005, replaces the injured Odwa Ndungane on the right after the latter sustained a knock to the shoulder last weekend.

Tim Swiel also comes in for his full debut at flyhalf, with Fred Zeilinga sidelined due to a hamstring injury.

Zeilinga was himself in the team as a replacement for Patrick Lambie, while Frans Steyn has also played in the number 10 jersey this season.

“We're now onto our fourth flyhalf,” White said.

“And we're not making a big issue of it, that's the nature of this competition.”

The final change is rotational with Keegan Daniel replacing Ryan Kankowski following the 25-12 triumph over the Lions in the last game.

The Sharks remain top of the domestic and overall logs and boss White is hoping to build on their lead this week, although he knows of the threat posed by the Cheetahs despite their second-last positioning on the table.

“This Cheetahs side obviously have a style that suits them and works for them,” he said.

“But they probably haven't had the reward they want.”
