Pretoria – Bulls coach Frans Ludeke made one change ahead of his side's Super Rugby clash against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Friday.

Lock Grant Hattingh will receive a starting berth at the expense of Paul Willemse, who drops out of the match-day 23 altogether, while Springbok veteran Victor Matfield will supply cover off the bench.

Ludeke expressed his disappointment on Tuesday following the team's 31-16 defeat in their season opener against the Sharks in Durban at the weekend.

“It was clear during our review that we totally under-performed and all 1/8have 3/8 accepted the fact that this was not even close to the standards we have set ourselves,” Ludeke said.

“We have put that behind us now, as we look towards the Cheetahs match with a positive and determined frame of mind.”

Bulls team: Jurgen Visser, Akona Ndungane, JJ Engelbrecht, Jan Serfontein, Bjorn Basson, Louis Fouche, Francois Hougaard, Pierre Spies (captain), Jacques du Plessis, Jono Ross, Flip van der Merwe, Grant Hattingh, Werner Kruger, Callie Visagie, Dean Greyling. Replacements: Bongi Mbonambi, Frik Kirsten, Marcel van der Merwe, Victor Matfield, Jacques Engelbrecht, Piet van Zyl, Handrè Pollard, Ulrich Beyers. – Sapa
