Durban – Springbok pair Lwazi Mvovo and Willem Alberts have been named in unfamiliar positions as the Sharks made four changes to their line-up for the Super Rugby clash against the Waratahs in Durban on Saturday.

Winger Mvovo has been shifted to fullback, while flanker Alberts moves to lock instead of the injured Anton Bresler.

Elsewhere, Odwa Ndungane is back from compassionate leave and comes in on the wing in place of Mvovo with SP Marais dropping to the bench.

The flyhalf position, vacated by a six month injury lay-off to Patrick Lambie, goes to Fred Zeilinga, while Charl McLeod completes a new halfback pairing after Cobus Reinach fractured his hand in the 23-19 loss to the Bulls last week.

Among the forwards, Jean Deysel fills in for Alberts at number seven.

“It's a new week, a new opportunity and we have a bye next week, so there is a lot to play for and no reason why we don't give everything this weekend,” director of rugby Jake White said ahead of the game.

Despite the gloom around Kings Park over the latest injury setbacks, there is some good news with the return of former captain Keegan Daniel to the bench.

Heimar Williams also returns, while Stefan Ungerer is in line for his debut after coming in as scrumhalf cover.

The Sharks currently top the competition standings with 19

points, two clear of the Brumbies and three ahead of fellow Australian visitors, the Waratahs.

The Sharks team is: Lwazi Mvovo, Odwa Ndungane, S'bura Sithole, Frans Steyn, JP Pietersen, Fred Zeilinga, Charl McLeod, Ryan Kankowski, Jean Deysel, Marcell Coetzee, Stephan Lewies, Willem Alberts, Jannie du Plessis, Bismarck du Plessis (capt), Tendai Mtawarira.

Replacements: Kyle Cooper, Dale Chadwick, Lourens Adriaanse, Etienne Oosthuizen, Keegan Daniel, Stefan Ungerer, Heimar Williams, SP Marais. – Sapa
