Johannesburg – Bulls captain Flip van der Merwe has been declared fit following a hamstring injury and will travel with the team on their Australasian tour, the Pretoria franchise announced on Monday.

Van der Merwe missed the matches against the Sharks and Chiefs, but will be considered for the Bulls team to play the Hurricanes in Wellington on Saturday, their first match on their month-long tour.

The Bulls depart for New Zealand on Tuesday and will have a last training session at Loftus Versfeld before departure.

Morne Mellett (ankle sprain), Bjorn Basson (contusion quad), Callie Visagie (contusion AC joint shoulder) and Waylon Murray (knee) will train on Tuesday.

Louis Fouche will undergo an ultrasound scan for a niggling knee strain while Pierre Spies (bicep), Arno Botha (knee) and Frik Kirsten (neck) remain on the long-term rehab list. – Sapa
