Johannesburg – Springbok Sevens assistant coach, Vuyo Zangqa, has informed the South African Rugby Union (Saru) he will not renew his contract, Saru confirmed on Monday.

“We are disappointed to see Vuyo go but we wish him all the best with his career choice,” Saru CEO Jurie Roux said in a statement.

Zangqa will step down from his current position with the South African team at the end of October.

He was offered an extension on his contract, however, he declined and said he had decided to pursue other career opportunities. He cited personal reasons for his decision.

“I would like to wish the team all of the best for the rest of the Sevens World Series season,” Zangqa said.

He also thanked Saru for the opportunities afforded him since 2007, when he made his Springbok Sevens debut as a player. – Sapa
