London - John Carver has been confirmed as head coach of Newcastle United for the rest of the season.
Carver, 50, took charge earlier this month when Alan Pardew left for Crystal Palace.
“This is a proud day for me,” Carver said on Newcastle's website. “I believe in my players and the staff I have around me.
“I am confident that we can deliver exciting successful football and look forward with relish to my role as head coach of this great football club.”
Newcastle have drawn one and lost three under Carver's leadership. The club's board will seek to permanently fill the job in the summer.
