Radamel Falcao’s miserable start to his Manchester United career has continued with news that he faces a further two weeks out through injury.

United boss Louis van Gaal said last night: ‘No, he’s not available. He has an injury and that takes time.

‘Now it’s four weeks already. Next week he shall train and then he needs two weeks. It’s a pity, but players in football are injured.’

United are preparing for a trip to Arsenal tomorrow with crippling injury problems across their defensive line.

Defenders Rafael, Jonny Evans, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are out with Luke Shaw a major doubt.

And midfielder Daley Blind will not know how serious the knee injury he suffered playing for Holland is until he removes a brace in 10 days.

Van Gaal said: ‘It is not as bad as the doctors first thought. It could still be a long story, but it isn’t six months or so.’

The Dutch boss had better news regarding keeper David de Gea — who has recovered from a dislocated finger suffered on Spain duty — and Angel di Maria, who can play despite picking up a knock while with Argentina.

Meanwhile, Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is set to make his comeback from injury against United. He last played against Everton on August 23.– Daily Mail
