Liverpool, England – Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has picked up a new injury and will be sidelined for up to another four weeks.

Manager Brendan Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo on Friday that Sturridge pulled his calf muscle in training as he prepared to return from a five-week layoff due to a thigh strain.

Rodgers says “he's looking at being out for another two to four weeks,” adding that “it's a big blow as we were looking forward to welcoming Daniel back.”

Liverpool has endured a stuttering start to the season and sits in ninth place on 10 points after seven games. – Sapa-AP
